This activity meets NC 8.E.1 Essential Standard: Understand the hydrosphere and the impact of humans on local systems and the effects of the hydrosphere on humans.
This infographic was designed as a visual representation to give students an overview of the structure of the hydrosphere. As you may know, infographics can improve students' comprehension by utilizing graphics to enhance the understanding of concepts.
Students can work individually or in groups. Discussion questions are included within the infographic to help guide discussion points.
How I used this in my classroom?
Students received around 8 minutes to quietly read the information on the infographic. Then students paired up with a partner to discuss and answer the questions in their science notebook. About 15 minutes later, we have a whole class discussion for each questions.
Here are two comments I will like to share from my students:
- It was easy to read.
- It is better than reading information in a plain paragraph.
