This is an open-ended, hands-on culminating assignment for the Ontario Structures and Stability science unit. Students are to build a strong and stable structure that can withstand several forces acting on it. Their structure should be as realistic and functional as possible, but the design is up to them. They may use books or the internet to come up with a design for their structure. Your students should collect items at home and bring them to school. Their building materials may include: cardboard, styrofoam, empty paper boxes, tape, paper towel rolls, small pieces of wood, etc.
This project package is 6 pages long. It includes:
- title page
- sketch page
- terminology page
- final sketch and written component
- grading rubric
You may want to get your students to present their structures to the class, which will provide you with a science and an oral presentation mark. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can improve my product in any way. email@example.com
