After years of teaching, one pattern that I see consistently lead to student success is ORGANIZATION. My students who have all of their materials, submit assignments on time, and keep track of their assignments are the ones who feel the most successful in their academic journey.
Things don't look quite as good for the others: the tornado backpacks, the "I forgot my planner" whiners, the "here's my assignment from four months ago...can I still get credit?"...you know, those kids! These are my students who I love dearly, but I worry most about how they'll function in the real world.
Enter: SOLUTION! Well, at least it's a step in the right direction. This product, the Student Assignment Calendar, is a great way to keep students planned and organized for your English class. These are printable calendars that can be copied for your whole class or just the select few that need intervention. Here's how it works:
-The calendar is set up so that students receive points each day for writing down the Daily Agenda/Objectives as well as the homework.
-At the end of the week, the students turn in their Assignment Calendar for you to (quickly) grade.
-On Monday, the Assignment Calendars are returned and the students complete the Monday Check-In. Here, students reflect on personal and academic success from the week, receive a grade report from you that they must record, and do some short and long term goal setting. I love having this as part of my Monday routine - it keeps me accountable with grades and is a nice way to start the week.
-The calendar continues! This product contains 16 weeks (roughly one semester) worth of calendar sheets with unique inspirational quotes.
Product Guidelines/How to Use:
-Download the Student Assignment Calendar.
-When printing, be sure to print/copy double sided (1 --> 2). This allows for the calendar and Monday check-in/reflection to coordinate with the same week.
-When printing, also be sure to have the product stapled. I like double-top staple, myself!
-If you'd like a revised or removed version of the rubric, simply message me and I can make a customized copy for you. Also, if you'd like the product to feature a class other than English, message me and I'll also make you a customized version!
