Get to know your students, their interests, their dreams and a bit about their lives through this assignment.
I typically assign this assignment at the beginning of the year or semester. The fun part of the assignment is I ask/trap students "What their intermediate goals, and long-term goals are." I then have them look at the bottom of the Autobiographical sketch sheet and ask them how many hours are left in a typical school week.
I then challenge them on a serious note about the realism around their goal and how they schedule their time. Its a great way to get to know, inspire and motivate your class.
It is also a helpful and light-hearted diagnosis into their writing skill level. I typically file these for future reference.
