The booklet and the informal assessment with corresponding data sheet were created to teach students about the measuring tools used when following a recipe. The information on these tools is explained using sight words for students with lower reading skills.
Directions for the booklet: Print out the pages, cut in half, staple together, and have students write their names on their booklets that they can read at school and at home.
Directions for informal assessment: Print out pages, laminate, cut out around the edges, and put on a ring. This assessment can be used to assess students after the read the story the first time, or at the beginning of each class/session to determine how well the information was retained.
Data Sheet: The tracking key was left blank so that you can add your own key for varying levels of prompting that are appropriate to your students' goals and your methods of instruction.
