Student Centered Science
is an engaging way to teach science content, while incorporating STEM, integrating the arts, and allowing student choice!
Students begin by experiencing an introduction lesson as a class. This product was created with a workshop structure in mind, where students work independently through five engaging centers. They create imaginative STEM designs at the makerspace, design a piece of artwork, and explore the given science concept further. Students showcase their knowledge of the content studied by designing their own project, similar to Genius Hour/Passion Projects, where they can choose how they want show what they know.
Each Student Centered Science product contains the following:
●Unit overview of lessons
●A driving question to guide your unit
●A whole group introduction lesson
●Five centers that students complete independently: Build It, Design It, Observe It, Play It, and Sort It.
●Culminating activity that promotes student choice
●Journal pages to accompany the introduction lesson, each center, and the student driven project.
●A content skills checklist for teacher observations
