Student Council HUGE bundle!
***This is the same exact kit as my Student Government Bundle
but with the words Student Council, instead of Student Government
This product has EVERYTHING you need to start and run a successful Student Council Association at the elementary school level. What’s included here:
-I have done the elections in many different ways; at the beginning of the year, at the end of the year, in front of the entire student body or videotaping speeches and pushing it out to classes through Google classroom. Whatever you decide it is in here with permission slips explaining the process. I have done primary elections and then a general election but again included here are both options or just a general election.
-Conducting the elections at the end of the year for officers is a great way to hit the ground running at the beginning of the next school year. You can have classes in the first month of school decide on representatives, while you meet with your officers and set the tone and get things in place.
Representatives-I have included all grades and then limited it to kids in grades 2-5. For kindergarten and grade 1, I assigned the officers to each class and it was their responsibility to get in touch with the teacher and then go and speak to the class. You can decide how to do that.
Ballots are included too or you can create your own ballots and do it through Google forms.
An editable parent letter welcoming them to Student Council and requesting their email as I always kept parents in the loop.
Student Council bulletin board-I always started with a bulletin board of all the members of Student Council. I have an editable file where you can add the student’s picture to the frame, print, and cut them out and post them on the board for the general population to see!
Identification tags-I went to Amazon and got plastic cases and lanyards relatively inexpensive and created id badges with a photo. The kids feel very important wearing them on meeting days-totally optional by I have included a template here.
Binders/folders-Also included are covers and spines for binders for the officers and for you as the advisor/sponsor. The advisor is gender specific and different skin tones to use from. I have also created labels of responsibilities for all the officers that can go on the inside of the binder if you choose to use them. To print the labels you need Avery #8164 shipping labels.
Folders not included but for all representatives, I have created labels that can be adhered to a two-pocket folder on the front and the inside I have created a label of what their responsibilities are for the year.
Meetings-I have created an editable agenda that you can add school letterhead and have the secretary type right into the form. I would suggest that the secretary keeps an Excel file for roll call or other items. I have also used Google classroom to push out notes to the kids after the meetings so that they can read them to their class.
For the first meeting, I have included a capture sheet that all members can give ideas for fundraising, spirit days, Teacher Appreciation week, and misc. ideas.
There is also a subsequent capture sheet for members to take notes on during the meetings.
I always met with my officers prior to the general meeting so that we could discuss the agenda and follow up on any long range plans. I met weekly with officers and then the entire Student Council but you can do what you are comfortable with
Included in this product is also posters and flyers for spirit days. They are editable to add dates. Posters are in color and flyers are in black and white so that you can run them on color paper to remind the school when the days are! This is sold separately in my store
I have also created an end of the year award that is editable so that you can add the student’s name, year, your signature, and on some, your school logo/mascot. These are also sold in my store
Lastly, I have created some forms for ideas for community outreach and fundraising and a tip sheet for the advisors!
