Let students take ownership of their own rubrics and expectations!
This writing rubric incorporates the "ADEW" method for student math writing responses (Answer, Draw, Equation, Write). Students are to use this acronym to guide them when writing a math extended response.
A. Write the answer in a sentence.
D. Draw a model to illustrate how you got your answer.
E. Show your work and write the equation.
W. Explain in detail how you arrived at your answer.
This product comes with all of the pages that you need for your wall/bulletin board rubric, as well as a student copy.
As a class we discussed what a 4 would look like for each of the categories, what a 3 would look like and so on. I am constantly referring back to the rubric throughout my math class to ensure that they know what is expected of them when writing/solving problems. I hope you find this as helpful as I have!!
