This Socratic Seminar format is easy to implement for any novel study in the Secondary Classroom. Getting students to read let alone discuss a text is not always easy. This seminar format has worked well with both sophomores and seniors. The directions are outlined in the template and a rubric is provided. A worksheet is provided for students to review the important elements of the text. The worksheet is provided the class before the seminar. The teacher acts as the facilitator but does not take part in the discussion. The class is separated into two groups and while one group is discussing the other is taking notes either on the online chat or by hand. The two groups switch and the conversation continues.
