In this lesson, I had the students pretend they were at orientation to become a tour guide that would take people down the Mississippi River on a riverboat tour. Once the students were through orientation, they were given this fact sheet about the top 10 things that a tour guide would need to know about Louisiana to give a good tour. The students then had to use this sheet to create a brochure to tell about the facts they learned and what they would say to their tour group if they were going to lead one. This was to supplement the "Social Studies Alive 4th grade curriculum" and the chapter about the Southeast states. I hope that your students really enjoyed this lesson as much as mine did!
