This is a list of student friendly questions stems sorted by Bloom's Taxonomy learning domains. These can be used to help students develop higher-order thinking questions for their literature circle discussions. Pass the list out to students to keep in their Reader's Notebooks, or post these question stems on chart paper in the classroom.
By teaching students what good discussion questions sound like, the quality of questions prepared for literature circle discussions improves greatly. It is highly recommended that each type of question is taught as a mini-lesson, and all students can experience writing each type of question before being asked to do it independently.
