Fun and challenging standards-based lessons your students will love! ❤️

Preview this Student Fun & Engagement Mini-Bundle for junior high and secondary English Language Arts.

1. Brain Breaks and Creative Dramatics. Your students will LOVE these games! Bundled here are four favorite drama games that my students have played for years, and I’m so excited to be sharing them! Included are "Pantomines," "The Dating Game," "Charades," and "What and Where Improv." Detailed instructions are provided with each lesson so you will know how to maximize the effectiveness of each game, step-by-step!

To say that your students will look forward to playing these games is an understatement. They'll find them fun, hilarious, and ask for them again and again. These drama games also work as a great motivator, whether you plan to use them as rewards or not. The process is inherently a reward and can be played in groups, as a whole class, or both. The games require critical thinking skills as well as creativity, are great for practicing community skills, and will keep your kids thinking and laughing.

With these games in your toolkit, you'll have plenty of print-and-go activities to use time and again. Each of the four comes with blank cards so you and/or your students can make up your own scenes and clues. Using these will be a very effective classroom management skill, knowing they can be rewarded with these dramatic activities will encourage your students to cooperate and work hard.

For shy or introverted students, you can set these up to play in trusted groups so that everyone feels comfortable. Then allow some to share with the whole class.

2. Secret Admirer Love Letter Creative Writing Character Study. Fun and engaging - a great way for students to think and write in a different point of view while demonstrating their analytic ability. This writing activity great any time of year and mixes challenge with fun and humor by asking students to write love letters to some unlikely recipients. Students take the point-of-view of a secret admirer of a character recipient. Both direct an indirect characterization follows naturally as students compliment the characters and describe the traits they find attractive. The “foldable” cover allows for students to design with elements that would appeal to their character – and dramatizes the element of secrecy. They are asked to keep their recipients’ traits in mind as they choose the style in which they write in attempt to – gain the favor of the character.

Students are provided characters and write love letters to their characters from the POV of a secret admirer. Blank cards are provided so you can use characters your students have studied, and/or you and your students can add more of your own.

3. TED Talks-Based Lesson Resources. Accompanies "Human Head Transplant" Talk. Reluctant reader? No problem!
