When our school created a new policy for hall passes this year, I knew I needed to make something visually appealing and creative instead of opting for kids to carry around random objects in exchange for leaving their shoe in the front of the classroom. Anyone have a teacher who did this?! So funny! I also wanted the passes to be as sanitary and germ-free as possible, and I decided lanyards the kids could wear around their necks could prevent those germs between the toilet and the hand-washing from transferring onto our class passes :)
For my classroom, I printed, laminated, and added a hole-punch at the top to attach a lanyard. I've hung them on tacks right next to the door, so students can easily grab one, head out the door, and return without missing too much learning in the meantime! The kids adjusted to the new policy this year so easily. I don't even have to say, "grab the pass" anymore! It's natural!
