For so many years, I tried different Job Helper routines and systems in my class.
I finally found a system that works great for ANY Grade level. It’s great because:
•It’s LESS timing consuming!
•It’s EASY to keep up with! (I don’t have to try and remember
who had what job from week to week.)
•It’s LOW PREP…once you set it, it stays the same all year!
Every week I choose two students to be my Student Helpers. I also choose a third student to be the Sub Helper in case one of my regular Student Helpers are absent.
These students sit in special desks for the week designated for Helpers, which also have their Job Checklist attached to the desk with Velcro dots. All the tasks needed for the week are completed by my helpers, and each week it rotates.
The students LOVE having a full week to complete all the classroom jobs like sharpening pencils, cleaning the lunch tables, passing out papers, etc.
I don’t have to worry about long job helper systems to switch out each week or each day. The helpers sign their names on the list beside the dates, which helps me keep track of who has helped me.
I hope you enjoy this easy job helper system as much as I have. ☺
