This is one way to organize a monthly free reading requirement. Students have a page requirement each month and may choose books at their reading level to meet the page goal. This system can be adapted for any grade level.
Students report book titles and the page count to the teacher and take associated Accelerated Reader tests to verify comprehension. It is an efficient way to track free reading and does not use a daily reading log. Students report finished books in a reading log-- not daily minutes or pages.
