This 15-slide PowerPoint presentation contains a Student Intervention Plan proposal for at-risk students' behavioral and academic success through immediate classroom, guidance, and administrative intervention and oversight. Similar plans have achieved success in troubled school districts across the country and have increased student attendance, decreased disciplinary actions, and improved academic performance. The plan does not absolve at-risk students from responsibility for their actions; it requires students to acknowledge their negative contributions to their poor performance and develop alternative, positive behaviors and outlooks to achieve success. The presentation describes the plan goals; composition of the intervention team; process involved in student participation in the plan; monitoring activities and procedures; and student exit requirements. The final slide includes a downloadable two-page, customizable form in Microsoft Word for student evaluation for participation and student monitoring during participation. I developed the plan while working with at-risk students who needed intense, immediate, and long-term support to remain in school, reduce disciplinary referrals, and recover academically. I piloted the plan in with my high school seniors and was pleased that it gave many of them the structure, guidance, monitoring, support, and ownership/control they needed to graduate.
