Want a way for your students to be INVOLVED and ENGAGED in your classroom? Let them lead your class for five minutes every day! When I started this in my classroom, students couldn't WAIT to take ownership for the first 5 minutes of every day.
This 5 minute daily activity incorporates Speaking & Listening skills, and also incorporates extra insight into your OWN curriculum that empowers students to do the work. You can make this activity fit YOUR classroom. Originally, I launched this in a senior AP Language and Composition course, but I've also used it in my other academic and on-level classes. You will be SURPRISED at how excited the students are to do these presentations!
The download is a pdf file that contains a link to the Google Slides presentation you can edit to fit your classroom. You will then share it with your students, who will, as partner groups, create the presentation for their week of the semester. Each day of the week has different ideas (Motivate Me Monday, TED Talk Tuesday, Wide World Wednesday and MORE!) for you to implement.
If you'd like to read MORE about how I began this weekly adventure, the blog post shortlink is at the bottom of this description. You can preview the presentation there, but please consider purchasing the Google Slides presentation in support of my store.
