Learn how to involve your students in reflecting on their work by conducting student led conferences. The ideal interaction is fluid, casual, and focused on both parties sharing their insights in a positive way.
Setting: Private area – approximately 10 to 15 minutes per appointment. You may have other students working on projects, study time, etc. while you meet in a private area off from the others.
•Empower the student to take responsibility for their learning
•Give the teacher a chance to hear the student reflect on his progress in his own words
•Reassure students that teacher is there to support them
•Hold students accountable for their academic and behavioral choices
Adaption: Select two or three questions and put on index card to pass out when needed.
