Still wondering about student-led conferences? Here are some FAQ's:
-What are student-led conferences? Student-led conferences are just that - parent conferences that are led by students rather than teachers. This means that students take ownership of their learning and are responsible for presenting their learning to their parents. Tired of feeling like you're on the hot seat at parent conferences? Student-led conferences are for you!
-What age kids can lead conferences? Really, any age student can lead a conference. Obviously, it will look different in a kindergarten classroom than it will with a high school senior, and these students will need different levels of scaffolding, but it will work. And work well. Please note: The materials in this product are best for grades 2-6.
-Why would I want to use student-led conferences? First, this is the BEST way I've found to get true student ownership of learning. THEY are completely responsible for recording and sharing their learning. Second, while it does require more planning in advance, I've found that this format is not nearly as exhausting as traditional conferences. Third, parent participation almost doubled when using student-led conferences! And the feedback from parents was overwhelmingly positive.
