Have you always wanted to give student led conferences a try, but are not sure where to start?
This package is a great starter set for you.
There are over 100 pages in the set including:
a parent letter explaining the process,
a form for setting goals at the end of each conference,
as well as recording forms and station cards for each skill.
Skills are broken down by common core standards.
There are over 10 stations in the set that highlight:
counting by 1s and 10s to 100,
counting to and from a given number,
making 10 with 2 numbers,
segmenting, blending, and rhyme with cvc words,
simple addition and subtraction problems,
handwriting and writing skills.
The skills that are highlighted are based upon common core standards.
During the process students take their parents around the room to different learning stations that highlight critical kindergarten skills, skills that we have already introduced and taught in the classroom.
I've had much success with this process as a classroom teacher and I hope that you give it a try.
Students and parents love "seeing" and understanding all the skills their child has worked on during the school year and how to approach the new skills we will be introducing as the year progresses.
At the end of the process, parents can sit down with you to review their child's progress and set goals!
