This web based research activity challenges students choose colleges they plan to attend college. Students will research admission standards for their colleges and compare those to their own academic successes. After choosing colleges, students will be taken through the loan repayment process. My students every year comment on how they had no idea the costs and requirements of their colleges. More importantly they understand long term loan payback and interest rates. The project lasts about 2 days and has students select two colleges they may attend and complete research on the college admissions requirements, campus life, GPA, ACT, costs of tuition, room and board and much more. Students will complete easy to follow charts using a national college board website and find out what it takes to get into the college and out of college. All students considering to go to college should complete this assignment. This lesson would fit well into any economics, government, personal finance or just trying to give students a real life activity. Consider looking into a bundled unit at a better price if you want to extend this lesson.
