In this PowerPoint presentation that I created for a full-day Professional Development session with our High School English teachers, the topic of student motivation is explored in great detail. This presentation digs into how we can lead students to discover an intrinsic drive by focusing on the skills developed in the process and the productive struggle necessary for growth.
In the second half of this presentation after lunch, the topic of working smarter and not only harder is also broken down. In this segment, original examples of process and strategy organizers for theme, diction, sentence structure, and evidence are shared. This allows students to organize goals step-by-step in the process of creating their best possible final products. Using the appropriate teaching tool for the right situations is also explored so that teachers can use these tools to make what they want their students to accomplish that much easier.
This entire day is also tied in with the Rocky series, as each step parallels a life lesson depicted throughout the series. When it comes to creating life-long learners through the development of skills, character, meaning, and purpose, this presentation is a must-have.
