This resource can be used in any grade as a classroom management technique as students use their names to identify either arrival/dismissal to and from school, identify an activity in which they would like to participate or identify their ownership of something.
It is fun for the students because it has their picture and their name but also allows them to take ownership of activities when moving through the classroom. It also can help with a job chart or manage computer use.
In Pre-K, these picture names can be used as a classroom management tool when the students move from center to center creating a sense of individuality and decision-making skills. In the NYC DOE, it is required that the student’s names and picture appear no less than six different places in the room.
For higher grades, you may want to add the last name, or may want to experiment with the font if extending the learning towards cursive handwriting.
