The main text this lesson discusses is our fast food culture and the adverse advertising campaigns of fast food companies. This lesson also discusses the importance of being a smart consumer and challenges students to rethink the motives of fast food companies. Students will be asked to interact on all levels with the text ranging from basic to higher order thinking skills as well as gain valuable insight and understanding about topics important to their life as citizens of their community, state, country and world at large.

This assignment takes between 15 min and an entire class period depending on how you use it. In general, I usually take up about 30 min. of class time to cover the lesson in its entirety. The breakdown for me is as follows:
Look up vocabulary words either together or independently. I use www.dictionary.com as it will provide the students with the definition, synonyms and a sentence all in one place.
Read the questions and generate sentence starters based upon the strategy of reformulating the question as an answer.
Read the article together out loud.
Allow students time to fill in answers if they did not fill them in during the reading of the text.
Review answers together.
Discuss possible topics and ideas for the paragraph response section.
Hold a classroom discussion reviewing student responses to paragraph response section as time allows.
