Reflective educators want to know what students are thinking. I use this survey throughout the school year to determine my students' level of effort, perceptions, satisfaction, and attitudes. The purpose of this survey is for me to understand my class better, hear what they think is working well, and consider adjustments as needed. The survey also helps to lead a discussion that will make students accountable for classroom performance or lack of.
Students are asked to complete 12 questions, which consist of a combination of selection answers and short responses. I refer to the survey responses throughout the quarter as a guide for me and the students. I see that this creates an even greater sense of respect and ownership within the classroom environment. Students respond better when they feel their voice is heard. We spend an entire school year together. I use this survey as needed to get a read as to how my students, as individuals, are feeling.
