After reading a play (or more) in class, ask students to work in small groups to write their own one-act play. This will help to show what they have learned about theater productions. This document is geared towards planning for their writing, and it will then be used to compose a larger piece. They will determine characters, setting and potential conflicts, as well as plan specific events to happen in each scene. They will also write out ideas of what elements of the story will be highlighted in the dialogue, and which will appear in the stage directions.
