This is my second year teaching sixth grade science, although I have been teaching for seven years. One of the biggest challenges I faced was holding kids accountable for work. We all know those kids who refuse to do certain assignments! Then, before we know it, parent teacher conferences roll around and the parents wonder why their kid isn't doing their best. These portfolio checklists were a lifesaver! It didn't work with EVERY kid, but it sure helped with alot! I put a copy inside each child's work folder. Each time we put assignments in (on filing day), I have the kids put in their work and circle the appropriate status for their assignment. We both initial next to it as well. I type up sticky address labels with the assignment title, date and task and let the kids put those in as well (or you can have them write it themselves). This was such a great organization and accountability tool! I have also included sheets for math, reading, writing, and social studies. ENJOY!!
