Parent/Teacher interviews in the Fall have never been easier since I started making them student-driven. Students take the lead by sharing items in their Work Portfolio, discussing what they are proud of and what they would change for next time. Parents are impressed because students are starting to take ownership of their learning and it’s only November!
I use this method in grade 4, but have also seen this used in grades 3-8.
Included in this package:
-PDF Title Page (that I laminate and put on a plastic file box containing the Student Portfolios)
-PDF Explanation (that I use to introduce the concept to students and post next to the Portfolios)
-PDF Reflection Cards (that students attach to each piece of work that they choose to include in their portfolio)
-I've also included .doc files for the Explanation and Reflection Cards since you will most likely have different things that you'd like your students to include in their portfolios
