Kids say the darndest things! And we as teachers have the joy of hearing them every day! Sometimes, though, those great quotes or goofy sayings are forgotten within the chaos of the day, and we find ourselves trying to retell a story without remembering the exact words. To help myself with this, I began keeping a daily quote calendar.** After school each day, I jot down one funny thing a kid. Doing this not only helps me remember the goofy joke to retell later, it also helps me focus on the positive aspects of my classroom and remember why I love teaching.
I keep track of all my quotes by simply filling in one quote bubble on this quote sheet each day. I have the sheets printed on regular 8.5x11 paper and put inside my lesson plan binder. I've also considered starting a quote sheet for the class to keep track of the most important learning we've done each day, or to record what they thought was the funniest/best part of the day. The possibilities are endless, and I hope you will comment and share how you've made the calendar work for you :)
