Three Bookmarks include:
1. Students use the Check for Understanding bookmark while reading with a partner. While one student is reading and one is listening, the student listening can use the question stems to demonstrate their understanding of the story.
2. Students may use the Reading Strategies Bookmark when they are reading by themselves. Reminders to the students are:
~Go back and reread.
~Skip the word and come back.
~Chunk sounds together.
~What word could fit here?
~Look at the pictures.
~Sound it out.
3. The last bookmark includes comprehension questions for students to retell, interpret, reflect, and make connections. Students can ask each other the comprehension questions, or have the students write their responses in a journal.
All bookmarks can also be sent home for parents to use while reading with their child!
