A better solution to hand-raising, have students hold these up instead! Easily create these student response cards and get all your students involved.
Cards included are:
-Bold A, B, C, and D for multiple choice framed questions
-Thumbs up and down icons
-Text to self, text, and world questions to aid during reading discussion
-Phone a Friend, Poll the Class, and Get a Clue cards to aid students when they are called on, but unsure of an answer
-5 Blank cards
To assemble, first print on card stock 1 copy for each student in your class. To make a set, cut apart, hole punch one corner, and secure together with a binder ring. Distribute and teach students how and when to use the cards.
*Tips- Laminate prior to cutting apart to make even more durable. Also, number each set prior to laminating. Before giving to students, record on a class roster the number assigned to each student. This will ensure that when a set gets misplaced, it can quickly make its way back to the owner.
*Trick- Place a small command hook on the side of each student's desk for them to hang their cards when not in use.
This is great to introduce at the beginning of the year. Teach a mini-lesson where you prepare example questions so students can practice using the different kinds of response cards.
