Product Description
This product can be used for full group teacher read alouds, guided reading groups, literature circles, or individual students. A rubric is included for student and teacher evaluation of each chapter response. The product also includes a section for student personal response with supporting details as well as evaluation and goal setting summaries when book response is complete.

In 1983, the U.S. Department of Education created its first Commission on Reading to explore the reading decline. Its 1985 report (Becoming a Nation of Readers) included these findings:

• “The single most important activity for building the knowledge required for eventual success in reading is reading aloud to children.”
• “[reading aloud] is a practice that should continue throughout the grades.”

This response to literature book can be customized for any reading selection and numbers of chapters (up to 25). Detailed printing and assembly instructions are included (please see preview file).
