At the beginning of every year, I like to give each student and parent a copy of the weekly schedule. Some schedules are tougher for students than others, being that some years we have had 6 versus 5 days.
This is a schedule that I have used because it is "kid-friendly" and clearly shows what class the students are to be in at any given time. I currently have this schedule listed with "Periods" versus specific classes, but that can be easily changed to reflect your class(es). The schedule is in Word format, and all times and class titles can be modified.
I would spend about ten minutes the first day discussing this, and then refer to it every day for approximately one week. The students would keep their copy in their lockers or a folder that was carried with them.
I felt that students who had problems making transitions were much more comfortable when having this schedule to "fall back on," plus knowing the students were aware of the schedule ensured that I followed the times, too.
