Display these posters for students to assess their level of understanding!
Are they a NOVICE? Are they starting to learn, but do not understand yet?
Are they an APPRENTICE? Are they starting to understand, and can do the task with help?
Are they a PRACTITIONER? Can they do the task mostly on their own, with most understanding?
Are they an EXPERT? Do they understand the task so well that they can teach someone else?
Your students will enjoy using this new vocabulary to describe their understanding!!!
POSSIBLE USE: Have students write down their level on a post-it before a test and WHY they feel that way. Staple the post-it to the test and let students compare their level with their actual score to learn how to self-assess more accurately.
