This student dictionary has changed the way my students write.
Each student has a dictionary in their writing folders and they refer to them during independent work time in all subjects. On each page, there are sight words listed for them to refer to as well as 12-14 lines for them to add additional words throughout the year. There are also blank line pages in the front and back for you (or students) to add important words that your students need to spell (months, days of week, etc.).
Seeing students build the habit of checking and adding words to their dictionary is a wonderful sight! It builds their confidence, spelling of "rule breaker" sight words, and creates a higher level of independence during Writer's Workshop.
Dictionaries are editable. Use them in class, or send them home with students to use in their homework.
To make your Student Sight Word Dictionary booklets:
- Print pages back to back.
- You can print the cover page a different color!
- Fold them length wise.
- Staple in the middle with a long neck stapler.
- Give one to each student, and watch them build their independence as writers!
Thank you for your interest in my products!
FYI - the preview looks a little strange because of the formatting, but when downloaded, each page should look normal. Please contact me if you have any issues or questions! Thanks again :)
