How To Use This Resource:
-Assign a problem or a question to independently assess individual students
-Students who answer the question or problem correctly are assigned to be “Student Teachers”
-Students who answer the question or problem incorrectly are assigned to be “Student Learners”
-The "Student Learner" to "Student Teacher" ratio should be 2:1 or 3:1
“Student Teachers” must teach “Student Learners” how to solve the question or problem correctly and then must “test” them for retention and understanding
This resource will promote productive dialogue and keep students engaged in learning. It will enable students to actively partake in being leaders of their own learning and work on their metacognitive skills. “Student Learners” may switch roles with “Student Teachers” at a later time when a different skill or concept is assessed, and vice versa. Teachers may collect and save their students’ ”Cooperative Learning” books in their portfolios to highlight on Parent/Teacher Conference or to use for formative assessment purposes.
