As students get older, let them take on the responsibility of communicating with their parents on the happenings in school! There are 11 editable (must have Powerpoint) newsletters in this zip file. Each one is formatted the same: ELA Communique, Math Message, Social Studies and Science Scoop, Other News. The only difference is the monthly (holiday/seasonal) background. There is a newsletter with a "Back to School" theme and one for each month of September through June. Since these are editable, you can make any changes you need to! For example, I called mine by our school name- "The ____ Chronicle". Fill in your room number, the reporter/student, and I saved the bottom to type in my name and email address as the editor-in-chief.
Each week (it can be the beginning- what we will be doing OR the end-what we've done), the students and I came up with a quick word/idea bank of what to write about. Then, during Work on Writing, this was a "must do" activity before any free choice writing.
