These student observation forms are so quick and easy to use, yet they really help to get a good picture and record of how students are progressing in your class.
I use this table to complete informal observations and assessments of students in middle school classes. I simply have a pile of the forms in my teaching file and complete a casual observation of students’ general effort and achievement in class. I can then use these observations when report writing and in parent conferences. The table allows you to record a rating for students for:
• Completion of work
• Participation in class discussions and activities
I don’t try to observe all students on the same date, although of course you could do that as it is very quick to complete either during or after class. I choose maybe 5 or 6 students to record in any lesson and that way I can get through a whole class over a week. You can record as many student observations as you wish by simply printing off multiple copies of the forms.
I hope you find this resource useful!
