I use these posters to engage students in informational text writing and to help foster a positive classroom environment. Students create their posters, present them to the class, and then students may ask each student a few questions.
I write the information on the easel and we review the information. Then, we write about each student and include at least one nice comment about the student.
I collect the student writing, the posters, and create covers for each student; this year I'll be allowing students to color their own covers.
The last thing I do is laminate the cover, cut it out, and bind it together with the writing pages to create a fun book for each student. After we have completed writing and making the book for each student, we put these out on student tables for open house.
These are great to do throughout the year and display at Open House.
