This reflection form was created to support students in having and maintaining a growth mindset regarding learning and Harkness style Socratic seminar discussions.
This is a student handout for reflection on Socratic seminar performance and is purposely brief. This is for high school students in an Advanced Placement class where seminar takes place weekly as a learning method for students reading dense texts and connecting concepts. Rather than an in-depth analysis of performance of themselves and the class as a whole, this shorter form focuses on incremental growth based on past reflections and future goals. It also practices argument skills with three of the questions focusing on claim, data, and warrant. Students in this class learn to create argument through regular participation in Socratic seminar and seminar reflection to employ metacognitive strategies and argue for themselves.
