FUN! FUN! FUN! Instead of just numbering students off into groups in the "old fashioned way," I have them close their eyes, and I put stickers/labels on their foreheads! When I say, "Go!" they start roaming the room, looking for their "matches." You don't have to put the stickers on their foreheads -- the possibilities are endless, but the kids do enjoy the silliness, and it is just an fun way to review basic skills while separating for group/partner work.
For this activity, students find all of the "related" words that fit into their group. They then have to arrange themselves in order by "strength." (ex. afraid, frightened, horrified, petrified). The students then arrange their labels in order on paint strips (free from Lowes). They can share with the class, and students can record all responses on the recording sheet (available for free on Tpt).
The template (5160) is compatible with Avery 8160 labels (1" x 2 5/8")
