Reflective Journals are a fun way for students to remember things they have done in class. On Friday, I allow my students to select one thing that they did in class for that week (field trips, guest speaker, career fair, book fair, etc.) that they really enjoyed, draw a picture, and reflect on what the event was about and why they liked it. The best thing about it is you will have a variety of topics to read at the students’ discretion.
Included in the packet
- Reflective journal writing sheets for each week
- A cover sheet
- extra sheet for students who may need additional writing space.
- Week in Pictures Sheet with captions.
- Blank Sheet Template to write in a topic relevant for the week
In addition, you can paste a picture if you have one for the event they choose or let the student draw a picture pertaining to the event in his/her writing on the film clapboard provided on each page.
0nce completed, please be sure to keep the journals in a folder all year and then at the end of the year simply let them color and decorate the cover or make one of their own and staple together. What a lovely keepsake for years to come. Plus the journal serves as a great way for the students to see how much their writings have improved over the course of the year.
