I use these prompts in my advanced studio class (similar to AP, where students choose the direction of their learning).
The handouts are great because they get students to really think about the meaning behind their art. Because of the open-ended nature of the prompts, students may take a little getting used to them. However, most thrive on the notion of being able to employ their artistic interests to each assignment.
*Included are 6 different prompts, each with a full page handout.
After handing out the prompt, I read (or have a student read) it to the class. Then we discuss ideas. I show various artist examples that could relate to theme (or look up peoples' fears, for one of the prompts). Then I have students journal, sketch, and research until they have their idea.
