Roald Dahl’s books always capture the reader’s attention and bring them to the amazing imaginary adventures! I wanted to introduce my students to Drama and I hoped they would get interested in this genre after reading The Witches: A Set of Plays. Roald Dahl, the master story-teller, has given us a highly theatrical tale. It has humor, horror, magic, and the triumph of good over evil. The best part about the play- to top over the enjoyment from reading, you can be in it! David Wood created some shorter plays around the most exciting incidents in the story. Some involve just a few people; some could involve a whole class. It was perfect for my students!
I created this study guide to monitor not only students’ comprehension of the plays, but most importantly their understanding of elements of drama. This study guide also helps to prepare students for the state reading assessment.
