What educators are saying

This Study Skills Curriculum is a 9 Week Course and is ideal for students in grades 5-7. A complete package of printable PDFs, videos, and materials for students, along with teaching tips, templates, and lesson planning materials for teachers.
I first developed my series of study skill instruction when I was asked by my administrator to teach a 9 week Study Skills course to 6th graders. I taught my course for 3 years. Two of my colleagues also taught the course, using this curriculum that I developed.
I built this course around 6 major concepts: goals and priorities, organization, time management, reading and note-taking skills, managing projects, and test taking skills.

HOW TO USE THESE MATERIALS
+ While I developed the course for the needs of 6th graders, this is an ideal course for students who are about to enter middle school, or have just arrived in middle school. Studies have shown that developing strong study habits at this age is ideal for strong study habits in the future.
+ You can use these lessons with your homeroom, advisory class, or study hall students.
+ You can also use it as a stand-alone 9 week elective course, which is what I originally designed it for.
+ The lesson outline details clearly how I structured each week and what lessons I did on particular days to give you clear guidance and direction. But they also allow for flexibility to fit your schedule and student needs.
ADDED BENEFITS
+ As of May 2020, this curriculum includes materials for remote learning. Each of the 6 chapters now comes with its own flipped classroom video, guided notes, notebook foldable, reflection & action plan. Each of these 3 resources are available in PDF and Google Slides formats.
+ Also includes 3 bonus articles: How and why I developed this curriculum; How to teach students to use textbooks in the classroom; How to create an effective study guide for students.
Study skills are a crucial part of academic success. But not everyone has the time to teach an entire course or stand-alone lessons...
If that is true for you, then I strongly recommend you learn how to integrate study skills into your daily curriculum and instruction with:
The Study Skill Essentials Training Program for Teachers.
