This lesson is the fourth of five in my beginning of the year study skills unit --introduction to study skills and the learning process. This lesson is in PPT format and has lesson notes at the bottom of each slide. Direct Instruction of study skills teaches students to take charge of their learning and gives them the strategies to use to succeed academically.
Students must habituate good study skills. To do this, they need consistent skills support at school and at home. Use this lesson, and the others on my TPT page, to build your own study skills program and lessons. Be sure to check out the correlating guided notes for this lesson to promote active listening during instruction.
In this lesson, students will:
• Identify as a growth or fixed mindset learner
• List the traits of growth mindset learners
• Compare the roles of effort, intelligence and experience in learning
