Some students automatically shut down when they're told to "study." What does that even mean? As teachers, we could do a better job of explaining what studying looks and feels like in our individual subject areas.
This document describes nine different, explicit study strategies, from making flashcards to creating a gallery walk. These tasks can be used in all subjects, from foreign language and math to history and science. If students receive this handout a week or two before exams, they can get in several hours of interactive, meaningful study time before cumulative exams. Help your students feel more confident when exam time rolls around!
