This interactive smartboard lesson begins with simple practice in subatizing numbers. This is the practice your students need in order to recognize groups (numbers) of items without actually counting them. Students begin simply by looking for pairs in their head and then adding the pairs together. Their recognition skills will strengthen and the time it takes for them to recognize how many items are on a slide will become less and less. What a great Brain Game Activity that helps build the mathematical foundation that is so important. See how fast your students improve their time in recognizing numbers. This lesson has a total of 25 slides ranging in difficulty. Eventually students are asked to write a number sentence that is representative of the picture on the slide. They are looking for groups of numbers to add together without realizing it. It starts to become natural for them to group small numbers together and add them for the total. All slides are self checking. Great for grades 1-5 and can be used over and over again to increase speed in recognition. Created with Smart Notebook 14.
