Looking for a quick, easy activity for when you have just a few spare minutes? Subitizing activities are a perfect solution and why not do them with fun pictures instead of just dots on a card. This set includes the numbers 1-10 using dot patterns with Thanksgiving Turkeys as the "dots" and 0-10 using the Turkeys inside of ten frames.
Subitizing is the ability to tell how many objects in a set without having to count. When you first start using subitizing cards children will want to count each object individually, but the goal is to encourage them to see the entire amount without counting. The larger sets are specifically designed to help kids see the smaller sets within and combine them to create the larger set. Even in the smaller sets some configurations are easier for children to subitize than others. For instance, my son can instantly tell me “five” when it is in the familiar dice pattern but has to count when the five were arranged into a set of 3 and 2.
