Description
Subitizing is the skill of instantly recognizing a quantity without having to count each object. The skill of subitizing aids in students’ number sense development.
To play - students will place cards face down on the playing surface. Player one selects two cards, attempting to make a match. If a match is made the player will keep the two cards. Player two continues with their turn.
As students play the memory game, encourage students to say something like, “I know this is 9 because I see a group of 5 and a group of 4.” Or “This is 6 because two groups of 3 equal 6.”
